“The Art of Wine/L’Arte del Vino” event was held on February 8th at DOK Restaurant, providing exclusive sommelier training focused on Italian wines already prevalent in the Ethiopian market. Organized by the Italian Trade Agency, the event targeted Hotel and Restaurant F&B managers, aiming to enhance their expertise in Italian wines.
The event commenced with comprehensive sommelier training, covering various facets of the profession, including wine selection, service techniques, and effective communication with patrons. Industry experts led interactive sessions and workshops, empowering participants to confidently serve and pair Italian wines in
their establishments.
With the collaboration of the Scientific Attaché of the Italian Embassy, Laura Pacifici Noja, the event also delved into the health benefits of wine consumption. Emphasizing the positive impact of moderate wine intake on overall well-being, participants gained insights into the nutritional value of wine and its role in a balanced lifestyle.
Aperitif traditions, a significant aspect of Italian culture, were spotlighted during the event.
Participants explored the cultural importance of crafting pre-dinner drinks that stimulate the palate and elevate the dining experience.
Jacopo Fanciulli, a renowned Sommelier, conducted a technical information session on Italian wines
available in Ethiopia. This segment provided insights into the characteristics, production methods, and regional specialities of wines like Bottega, Zonin, and Zinzula, empowering participants to make informed recommendations to their guests.
The event concluded with a networking session, offering participants an opportunity to connect with diplomats and industry peers, adding a touch of prestige to the occasion. A week-long promotional campaign in the local press generated substantial anticipation and ensured a high level of industry participation.
Mr. Riccardo Zucconi, Director of the Italian Trade Agency, expressed satisfaction with the event’s success, highlighting the importance of continuous professional development in the hospitality field. Gratitude was extended to participants and wine importers (Rungo, Wine Tribes, and NHY Import Export) who contributed to the event’s success.
