Feven Tsehaye, Founder and CEO of Tchakka Origins founded the company to merge her appreciation for nature along with her desire to share the story of Ethiopia’s indigenous plant species with a proposition for a plant-based lifestyle embedded in sustainability at its core.
Feven’s prior work experience was in social impact investments in agriculture and healthcare in Africa with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Prior to that, Feven served as a fellow for Vittana in Peru, scaling-up product and service delivery for vocational education micro-loan programs. With a deep desire to transform sustainability in business, Tchakka Origins is the first vertically integrated specialty natural ingredients company from Ethiopia, using an agroforestry model to source and process natural ingredients from indigenous plants for use in personal care, wellness, herbal teas and food. By merging the biodiversity of endemic plant species, sourced from forested ecosystems and in partnership with female smallholder farming communities, Tchakka Origins offers impactful products for a plant-based lifestyle.

Tchakka Origins and its partner farmers are committed to exclusively organic production of plants, from soil to harvest. To maximize both ecological and social impact, they partner directly with smallholder farming communities, establishing control of value chains, and creating opportunities for greater participation of women farmers.
