In order to build and expand the Social Enterprise ecosystem, Social Enterprise Ethiopia (SEE) organises a monthly MeetUp Addis event; this is an opportunity for invited social entrepreneurs to share their experiences of how they first conceptualized their business idea and then moved into creating their enterprise and started working on it successfully. The MeetUp Addis event enables SEs to not only share their successes but also to highlight the challenges faced and how they overcame them. The event has the followings objectives:
- To share experiences from sector actors, including problem solving information, with other SEs in the sector or interested youth
- To inspire people, particularly the youth, to think of setting up their own Social Enterprise
- To provide a networking platform for Social Enterprises
The format of the program is typically a fireside chat with an oral presentation, normally from two speakers. This will then culminate with a question-and-answer session. The event will close with a reception, to allow the audience to interact with the speakers but also to network amongst themselves.
We typically try to film and livestream the event so that people who are unable to attend can watch it. The filming and photos will provide a useful resource for anyone who is interested in a particular subject or sector to view it at a future time
