- Over- exfoliating (physical and chemical)
Over- exfoliating can exacerbate skin conditions and break down the skin’s protective barrier. Based on skin condition, type, and age, skin exfoliating is recommended to be used on average every two weeks. We need to be cautious when we dry facial skin; either it has to be air dryed or patted gently with a towel.
- Not drinking enough water
Up to 60% of our body is made up of water, which helps our skin stay young and let our body work its best. Try to drink 6-8 glasses of pure water daily.
- Blindly following trends
The most critical caution that must be taken is ever to use a skincare product without knowing about the ingredients, skin type and condition. Some skin care products might be trending and used by peoples around us with a better outcome, but it may not be right for your skin or obtain the same result.
- Using unhealthy makeup and sleeping with wake up
Using makeup is not harmful if appropriately removed with appropriate skincare products free from harmful chemicals. Cleaning skin before applying makeup and removing makeup before going to bed will keep our skin healthy and young.
- Not wearing sunscreen
Excessive exposure to UVA and UVB is dangerous, if the right SPF of the sunscreen or sunblock is not used, the damage will be worse. Sun exposure can cause tremendous skin problems like premature skin aging and skin cancer.
- Constant touching of the skin and squeezing pimples
Squeezing pimples or popping pimples is the most common mistake done by many people, and can leave invisible acne and scars. When we open our skin by popping pimples, we provide bacteria with the perfect opportunity to enter our skin, and thereby the chance of getting skin infections will be high.
- Not cleaning beauty tools.
Tools like a makeup brush, facial cleansing brush, and towels should always be clean and kept dry.
