A pioneer in the world of textiles, Elizabeth Kassa of Trio Craft has sadly passed away. Along with her sister Aster, she created the social enterprise of Trio Craft Ethiopia with the prime objective of generating local employment and providing sustainable skills; Trio Craft established itself as a forerunner in the production of beautiful hand woven textiles made from natural and organic Ethiopian materials such as cotton, silk and wool. The company enables Ethiopians (both men and women) with training and sustainable employment providing employment for over 200 people. The company gives priority to employing women, youth, and school dropouts including unemployed single mothers. In the Sarris workshop and showroom, including sewing, embroidery and dyeing, products are beautifully hand woven on traditional looms using traditional skills. Much emphasis with the establishment of Trio Craft was the specific preservation of traditional artisanal skills and highlighting cultural heritage. The exquisite textiles include linens, cushions, scarves and carpets.
