After an illustrious career of 55 years (30 hotels in 12 countries); Hilton, Intercontinental and Radisson Hotels, Yohannes retired and devised the International Hotel and Property Management (IHPM) consultancy.
Yohannes Paulos as a young accountant never envisioned an international career in financial and hotel management but this happened after a chance encounter with an old friend driving an impressive new car who announced proudly that he had just got a job with the brand new Hilton Hotel and the job came with a car! This was enough to pique his interest and Yohannes sought employment with the Hilton (opened in 1969).
Whilst excelling in accountancy, Hilton was expanding in Africa. His first relocation was Madagascar where his boss noted his potential and approached Yohannes about becoming a General Manager. Yohannes however, now with a young family, did not relish a more demanding position. Promoted to Regional Director of Finance, he continued to enjoy the experience of working and relocating internationally. In time however, he was ready to become a General Manager. Training included spending one month working in every hotel department including peeling onions and chopping garlic in the kitchen!

When hotels were expanding in Ethiopia, Yohannes was recruited to work with 9 hotels in Addis including Jupiter, GetFam and Magnolia. IHPM is run by professionals with over 35 years of international expertise, providing all aspects of operating a hotel from building, designing and training right through to opening and beyond.
His current project is a handbook, an invaluable reference book of knowledge for hotel owners and managers as well as tourism sector professionals.
