Building on its commitment to celebrate artistic expression, KIKUNDI recently launched the Ethio Jazz digital art collection on March 7, 2025. Featuring works of Yeabtsega Getachew and Harerta Teklu, this collection captures the evolution of their artistic styles through a series of iconic scenes and imagery inspired by Ethiopia’s rich jazz heritage. It highlights influential musicians like Mulatu Astatke, known as “the father of Ethio-Jazz,” and Emahoy Tsegue-Maryam, who beautifully blends Ethiopian folk and church traditions with jazz.
The artworks in the collection highlight a variety of instruments such as the vibraphone, conga drums, and piano, reflecting the diverse soundscape of Ethiopian jazz. With sweeping views of traditional dance movements and intimate close-ups that delve into the emotional depths of the genre, the collection celebrates the profound connection between jazz and visual art.
Visitors are invited to experience the Ethio Jazz collection and explore many other remarkable works at KIKUNDI Gallery.
