The park contains eateries, greenhouses, a fitness center and a running track. Currently, it costs 130 ETB to enter for as long as you like and there is a large car park.
The park has an artificial lake, with a water fountain that is illuminated at night. It also contains a variety of flowers and a diverse species of flora. The diversity of the Ethiopian people is illustrated by the planting of 80 trees on two walkways.
Friendship Park is the pilot project of Beautifying Sheger, aka Addis Ababa Riverside Green Development Project, funded by the Chinese. Beautifying Sheger is an initiative of the current government. It is an ambitious project which will ultimately utilize four tributaries of the Akaki River (Kebena, Kurtume, Kechene, and Banti-eyikitu)
for creating green spaces including a 56 km walkway from Mount Entoto to Akaki.
The project will protect the rivers from pollution, reduce flooding, and contribute to
Addis becoming bike-friendly and to attract tourists. The development and ongoing management overall has created numerous job opportunities.
It is a delightful green space enjoyed by families, couples and visitors – well worth a visit.

Friendship Park is the largest urban park in Addis Ababa across the street from Unity Park. Entrance, by car or foot, is across the road from the entrance of the Sheraton Hotel.
It was opened on 10 September 2020. Friendship Park, sometimes referred to as Friendship Square, has a paved track alongside steps with attractive flower beds up the slope. There is an
outdoor amphitheater with a stage over an artificial lake. On the other side of the lake is the riverside walkway which will be part of the 56 km green road that will extend from Mount Entoto
to Akaki.
