Over the last nine years, bag designers in Ethiopia have been going from strength to strength, transforming high-quality local leather into stylish and innovative designs.
As a platform to bring these designers together and showcase their collections, the Bag Show was initiated in 2016 in collaboration with Sheraton Addis. It successfully expanded every year and has developed into a much-anticipated
annual event.
This year, the Bag Show is being held on Friday 8 March at the Musical Fountain, Sheraton Addis, starting late afternoon (5pm – 8pm).
The event will begin with a runway fashion show featuring Ethiopian models showcasing over 100 bags. This gives the audience an opportunity to see the newest bag designs available, which they can then purchase at a Pop-Up Sale after
the show.
The day after the Bag Show, March 9, the Pop-Up Sale will continue in the same place as part of the Design Market, offering a unique shopping experience (10am – 5pm).
The Bag Show not only boosts the local creative economy but also supports the community by donating all proceeds from ticket sales and 20% of sales from the Pop-Up Sale to Our Father’s Kitchen, a local charity under HIDO (Hiwot Integrated Development Organization) which provides access to food and resources for a better future.
The Bag Show is part of the Dashen Culture Club series of events. Bag sales will be processed by Dashen Bank Representatives using hand-held payment terminals. Attendees will also have the opportunity to open accounts with Dashen Bank and receive membership to the Dashen
Culture Club.
Tickets (2,000 ETB) to The Bag Show can be purchased from Amole (Dashen Bank) or at the gate on the day of the event.
