‘Art for good’ was launched on 19 October 2024 at the newly created CANVAS creative event space as part of the 10th Anniversary of the Culture Club Art Tour.
Emerging from the concept of the Art Tour, which combines support and exposure for Ethiopian artists while generating financial support for the artistic community, ‘Art for good’ was launched as an initiative to increase the opportunity for art lovers to purchase the work of more artists while fundraising for Saint Paul’s Hospital in Addis Ababa
Uniquely, a black and white portrait photograph of each artist, with a short statement about what art means to them, accompanies their paintings. Every artwork is priced at 5,000 birr, 70% of which the artist receives and the remaining 30% goes to save the lives of patients at St. Paul’s Hospital by providing medicines and special treatment that is otherwise unaffordable.
These miniatures are proving extremely popular amongst art lovers who enjoy the opportunity to view the work of many different artists in one display, mixing and matching different works or selecting a series of paintings from the same artist.
The smaller canvases also appeal to those whose wall space is limited and who like the convenience of being able to easily carry the artwork with them when moving.
The artists are also very excited by the ‘Art for good’ concept, enjoying the opportunity for increased exposure to art lovers andcollectors.
