Addis Uncovered is a great new website that contains a wealth of information for both newcomers and residents alike. The brainchild of two friends Jennifer and Caitlin, this is how it evolved: “Caitlin moved to Addis in the summer of 2017 to conduct research for her PhD in Ethiopian history. Her husband came with her, and they have since opened a gym in the city, GoFigure Fitness. This is Jennifer’s second time in Addis, having been here for a year and a half ten years ago. She has been back since the summer 2018. Jennifer has a background in international development and human rights issues and she is married with three sons. Our friendship evolved over workouts, recipes, and word-of-mouth recommendations, and we are excited to use this blog as an excuse to learn more, see more and do more in this fascinating city.”.
Topics covered include Where To Go (churches, emergency contacts, wifi spots, groceries and medical care) How to (helpful info on driving licenses, transporting pets and if you have celiac disease What To Do (from outdoor activities to movie theaters and bazaars).
Not surprisingly the current themed post is COVID-19 in Addis: https://www.addisuncovered.com/post/corona-virus-in-addis-updates-and-resources.
Many websites come and go or they are simply not updated – this site is definitely one to bookmark and it will be updated.
The creators saw a real need for a one-stop, how-to guide for life in Addis Ababa and want this site to be as useful and accurate a resource as possible – they invite people to send any tips, tricks, corrections, and recommendations to addisuncovered@gmail.com
