HOTTO Restaurant: Japanese Inspired Asian Fusion

HOTTO came about from the collaboration of three friends that bonded over their mutual appreciation of food. What started as restaurant recommendations when traveling abroad blossomed into an idea to open a restaurant that offers a similar elevated experience in their home city of Addis Ababa.  Hotto is a modern and contemporary Japanese inspired Asian fusion restaurant with bespoke and locally sourced ingredients.

Following the culinary journey of Chef Dan, who has a wealth of experience in crafting dishes from all over the world. Chef Dan has enjoyed a fascinating career spanning over a decade. His passion for food has taken him to over 97 countries. He began his culinary journey as part of the opening team at Sheraton Addis then he moved to London and worked his way up to Head Chef at Sheraton Belgravia. His next destination was UAE, where he joined Etihad Airways to help craft a five-star dining experience at 40,000 ft. It was no small feat and Chef Daniel was able to achieve this within just three years. He then moved back to London, this time to study Japanese Cuisine. After completing his training, he joined Sushi Samba where he further developed his skills in making Asian fusion food. Now he is back home in Ethiopia excited to share his expertise.

Hotto is a one-of-a-kind dining experience that is sure to impress. Taking inspiration from the elegance and simplicity of Japanese Cuisine, Hotto aims to blend local ingredients with Asian cuisine to create a unique flavor.  Hotto means “hot” in Japanese and we are sure that this is going to be a must try place in Addis.  Chef Daniel believes every plate tells a story and that is exactly what he aims to do at Hotto.

The Hottophilosophy is simple yet intricate; they believe that food shouldn’t intimidate. Inspired by the Japanese philosophy around food, they prioritize intentionality. From the way their food is arranged on the plate to the music, they want to create a friendly environment. Influenced by their Ethiopian roots of gathering around food, they offer smaller portions so you can share with your loved ones and try as many dishes as possible. their goal is to provide an elevated dining experience.
